The story is taken from the novel by Gordana Kuic and follows the fate of one Jewish family from Sarajevo in turbulent times from beginning to the end of First World War.

The family Salom is descendants of Sephardi Jews in Balkans and consists of Mr. and Mrs. Salom, their five daughters, son and grandfather. They live in peace in Sarajevo. Their lives are turned upside down following assassination of Archduke Ferdinand. In addition to challenges of survival during the war, they have to deal with a mixed marriage by one of their daughters.
